Millbrook Wildcats - Monday, October 10 - away

Today is

Green Hope 2 @ Millbrook 0

Green Hope and Millbrook have had some important games in the past as the teams have eliminated each other in several state play-offs over the years. The first meeting at Green Hope was a 1-1 draw. Millbrook has had a tough year so far, losing many very close games in a difficult conference and some extremely challenging non-conference games. Their record prior to this game is 1-9-1.

On a damp, misty night in N. Raleigh on a weathered field, Green Hope started the game with a spark, creating many chances to score. Nick Roos leapt high into the air to head home an early corner perfectly served by Taylor Estrada to get the early 1-0 lead. The Falcons kept up the pressure, dominating in the midfield and winning a majority of the 50-50 balls. The half expired with Green Hope 1-0 ahead.

The second half resumed and Green Hope kept up the pressure. The Falcons produced 17 shots, while Millbrook only recorded 4. Green Hope had 7 corners and Millbrook 0. Taylor Estrada was able to get on the end of a perfect service to make the score 2-0. Several other players were able to get good looks at the goal, but not able to put the ball in the back of the net. As long as the team continues to create chances, the ball will eventually bounce their way.

The midfield and defense played extremely well to record the shutout and the game expired 2-0 and improved the Falcons record to 9-4-2 overall.

The Falcons play Fuquay-Varina in another critical Tri-7 conference match Wednesday. Every game in the Tri-7 is a battle and Fuquay has a talented group of players that put up a good fight in the last fixture.

With only 5 games left in the season, Green Hope is looking to get on a roll and their performance on Monday night was a step in the right direction.
