Jack Britt Buccaneers - Wednesday, November 2 - away

Today is

Green Hope 3 @ Jack Britt 0 (1st Round of NC State HS 4A Playoffs)

Green Hope traveled 2 hours to Fayetteville, NC to face Jack Britt. The Falcons changed their line-up a little since the end of the season and have had a few good training sessions prior to the play-offs.

Green Hope started the game off with vigor as they got several great opportunities to score. Mark Trawick made a great run and received a superb cross from John Hindman, but Mark’s header just went over the bar. Mark’s prowess around the goal was foreshadowing of his offensive game this evening. Shortly thereafter, John Hindman’s cross was put in the net on an own goal. Then, Mark Trawick netted a goal and to cap off the scoring, Nate Dixon put in a goal. The first half ended 3-0.

The second half was much of the same as Green Hope dominated play, but the game got a little chippy and many fouls were getting more and more dirty.
With 15 minutes to play, many of the first team Falcons were subbed out.
Injured during the game were Mark Trawick and Eric Butterly. Senselessly, with 3 minutes to go in the game, Ryan Dowd was attacked from behind and severely injured. The Jack Britt player was ejected from the game immediately, but Green Hope will be down a critical player for the second round due to an extremely dirty foul. A sour note to an otherwise, spectacular performance by Green Hope.

The game ended with the Falcons celebrating a 3-0 win and move onto the second round to face Terry Sanford (17-4-1) in Fayetteville on Saturday at 5 PM.
