Enloe Eagles - Thursday, September 14 - away

Today is

Green Hope 6 @ Enloe 1

Green Hope traveled to Enloe High School Thursday night for a non-conference fixture.

Following a disappointing loss the Middle Creek, the Falcons made some changes in the line-up, moving Thomas Lindsey to defense, and Nick Butterly into the midfield, while Kyle Bandy and Justin Taylor earned starting spots. Alex Long gave Eric Santilli the night off in goal.

Early, the Falcons looked a little sloppy, but found a way to score as Nick Butterly sent in a nice through ball that Taylor Estrada buried in the net. Soon after, however, following a poor clearance, Enloe won a corner kick. The ball was served into the 6-yard box and Enloe won an unchallenged header that found the back of the net. 1-1. Green Hope found the net again before halftime as Martin Murphy put one home for the 2-1 lead.

In the second half, the Falcons played much better with better passing, movement off the ball and more organized defense. Soon they scored again with Taylor Estrada outpacing the defense and putting one home for his second of the night. Kyle Bandy followed that up with a laser from 20 yards. Martin Murphy was the beneficiary of assists from Ryan McDonnell and Ryan Dowd as he tallied his first hat trick in a Green Hope uniform to cap the game at 6-1, Green Hope.

Green Hope now has a record of 4-3 on the season. The Falcons take on their new neighbors, Panther Creek, on Friday, September 15 at home at 6 PM. A rare opportunity for the soccer team to play on a Friday night!
