Cary Imps - Wednesday, September 20 - away

Today is

Green Hope 3 @ Cary 0

Green Hope traveled to Cary for another local derby against their rival. The Falcons had not beaten the Imps in 5 tries.

Green Hope was "up" for this game and they jumped all over the Imps. Early on, Martin Murphy put in a goal off a corner by Taylor Estrada and the Falcons were up 1-0. The Falcons were able to possess the ball for most of the first half, but were unable to penetrate the bunkered-in Cary defense.

In the second half, the Falcons were more patient and were able to draw out the Imps and open up passing lanes. Nick Butterly played a spectacular ball through to John Hindman who calmly buried it in the back of the net for a 2-0 lead. Several other shots and chances were just wide or saved by the Cary keeper.

Ryan McDonnell came on in the second half and added a spark down the left side. He was able to get behind the Cary defense and Taylor Estrada found him for a nice pass that Ryan put home for the 3-0 lead.

Green Hope was able to maintain the shut out as they continue to improve defensively and understand the shape of play required to win in the Tri-8 conference. Next, the Falcons take on Fuquay Varina at home on Monday night.
