Cary Imps - Monday, October 16 - home

Today is

Green Hope 5 vs. Cary 0

Green Hope hosted the Cary Imps for the second fixture of their series. Green Hope won 3-0 back on September 30th and was looking for a sweep of their cross-town rival.

The Falcons started very slowly and frustration seemed to spill over from the Apex game into the first part of this fixture. Finally, the Falcons calmed down and found the back of the net in the first half as John Hindman made a long throw that Martin Murphy calmly controlled in the box and used his patented spin move for the left footed bomb into goal. Falcons 1-0. The half ended soon thereafter with little excitement from either team.

In the second half, the Falcons played much more inspired and were able to get a quick goal off a corner served in by Taylor Estrada to Thomas Lindsey. Lindsey, being the bravest player on the team, threw his body toward the ball inside the 6 yard box in the midst of flying boots and knees. He was able to dive to head the ball just before it hit the ground and drove it in the net for the 2-0 lead. John Hindman then got on the end of a pass from Murphy and knocked the ball home for to make the score 3-0.

With 30 minutes to play, many personnel changes were made and the level of play intensified. Justin Smith played a nifty ball through to Zack Query who deftly slotted it into the corner of the goal. Then, Bryan Moon showed some fantastic dexterity as he was falling to the turf to play Query again in the box, and Zack calmly hit it home for his second of the night. Query had a chance for the hat-trick but got a little too cute on a break away and missed wide.

With the 5-0 win, Green Hope's record is now 12-4-1 and 8-2-1 in the conference. The Falcons travel to Fuquay Varina Wednesday night for the second leg of the series where the Falcons won 1-0 the first time around.
