Greensboro Grimsley- Wednesday, August 29 - away

Today is

Greensboro 1 vs. Green Hope 3

Green Hope traveled to Greensboro to take on #5 Grimsel Wednesday night.

Green Hope scored first as Magnus Sorensen broke through the Grimsley defense down the right side of the Penalty Box for a low shot. The ball was held up in the high grass on the Grimsely stadium and Justin Taylor hustled to put the ball in the net before Grimsely could clear it. 1-0 Green Hope.

Grimsley came back as they played a ball deep to the left and fired a shot that was deflected by a Green Hope player into the goal to tie it 1-1.

Soon thereafter, the high grass at the stadium again came into play, it held a ball up for Justin Taylor to outpace the goalkeeper from Grimsley and JT netted his second of the night to take the lead to 2-1.

In the second half, Grimsley continued to play dangerous balls into the wings, but the defense of Green Hope and the spectacular play of Alex Long in goal thwarted the opportunities. Grimsley hit the post once and kept the pressure up, but Green Hope held on.

Finally, Stephen Clowes made it 3-1 as Justin Smith played a perfectly weighted pass into his stride and Stephen bravely slotted it past the goalkeeper as the keeper leveled him. Stephen popped up to celebrate his second goal of the season.

Green Hope plays Wake Forest-Rolesville Tuesday after Labor Day. This should be a great match as the Falcons take on the team that upset them in the first round of the play-offs last year.
