Cary - Wednesday, September 19 - Away

Today is

Cary 0 vs. Green Hope 7

Green Hope traveled to Cary HS for Tri-8 clash. Cary, once a perennial power in the Tri-8 and State Champion less than 10 years ago is having a down year. Their soccer team has been decimated by the opening of new schools such as Green Hope, Panther Creek and Middle Creek and the yearly redistricting as Wake County continues to grow. With that being said the Imps have a lot of pride and character to fight on.

The first half opened with Green Hope scoring early. A quick goal by Striker, Martin Murphy was a thing of beauty. His first shot of the match was in off the post for the 1-0, lead. Magnus Sorenson scored soon thereafter from a splendid pass from Jared Dapkevich to make it 2-0 and the half expired.

In the second half, the Falcons seemed to find their groove and Justin Taylor, Martin Murphy, Stephen Clowes, David Chandler and Nick Butterly all found the net for the 7-0 win. Alex Long and James Earl shared the shut-out in net and the entire team got to rejoice in the win. Considering 2 years ago, Cary handed the Falcons a 5-0 defeat, the decisive victory in 2007 was a good feeling.

Green Hope enters the second half of the season Tuesday Sept 25th against highly regarded Fuquay Varina and Lee County the following night.
