Greensboro Grimsley- Tuesday, August 26 - home

Today is

Green Hope 2 vs. Greensboro 0

Green Hope welcomed Greensboro Grimsley to Cary, Tuesday night for the only fixture of the week. Grimsley lost in last year's state final to Broughton 3-2 and the Falcons were looking forward to the match to test themselves against another quality opponent.

Green Hope made some changes to the line-up and continued to work out the early season kinks. The Falcons were in charge throughout most of the game and had several glorious opportunities to score and they finally got on the score sheet with a goal by Martin Murphy.  Justin Taylor tallied the second goal of the half on a header and the Falcons were on top 2-0 at the half.

In the second half, the Falcons continued mounting pressure. The Grimsely keeper was peppered by shots by almost every field player on the Green Hope squad and to his credit, he was able to make some fantastic saves. Green Hope held on for the 2-0 win.

Of note, Green Hope has shutout all 4 teams they have faced so far this year. The defense has been stellar and Junior goalkeeper, James Earle has been sharp. Earle made a great save on Grimsley's one shot of the night and he's provided a good outlet for the defense. In addition, he's stayed mentally aware through long periods of inactivity to make big saves when called upon!  The entire team should be commended on their shutout streak for great team defense and concentration on defensive set pieces.

The Falcons outshot Grimsely  27 to 1. Green Hope's next game is Thursday, September 4th at Sanderson High School.
